Construction of New Training Tower

Owner: City of Mountain Brook

Architect: Randy Britton

Red Mountain constructed a 4 story (43 feet tall) fire training tower. Each floor of the tower is 1000 square feet with multiple rooms. The building is constructed of concrete blocks and concrete flooring supported by bar joists. The windows and doors are metal and provide a darkened interior to simulate conditions that may occur in a fire. The building is serviced by both an interior and exterior stair system. There is a standpipe that runs the entire height of the building and fire hose hook-ups at each floor. The roof also has tie-in points for rappelling operations down the exterior of the building. The building is surrounded by a 40 feet concrete apron, built to withstand the weight of fire trucks.
