Historic Home Renovation

Location: Birmingham, Alabama

Architect: Caraway and Associates

The project scope required removing a three story rear section of the 1920's vintage house that included a bathroom, sunroom and deck. A new addition extended down the mountainside to incorporate approximately 2400 square feet of new house. New erected steel supports the basement, first floor and partial second floor framing. All floor, wall, and roof framing was done with wood members. Decorative historical rafter tails are typical to the project. Exterior windows and doors are wood clad aluminum with true divided light insulated low-E glass. Exterior finish is three coat stucco on galvanized metal lathing. Interior finishes are typical to the construction period of the house with all modern amenities.
