Residential Renovation

Remodel/Renovation

Location: Mountain Brook, AL

This project involved adding over 1500 sf to this circa 1920 two story house. Work included demolishing the portecochere, breakfast room and den. New work included the construction of: a new 240 sf den with curved ceiling and arched door openings; a 450 sf screened porch; a two car garage; a 240sf playroom; and a 280sf garden terrace that included a water feature. The exterior work required matching the new stone with the existing stone. The walls caps and steps were made from Indiana limestone and the flooring was either bluestone or brick pavers. Decorative historical rafter tails are typical to the project.

I selected RMA because they had done other historic restorations and displayed great skill in matching new and old materials. I have been very pleased with the craftsmen and their work. The job has been well staffed and the job has been supplied according to schedule. The job has been more difficult than most other residential construction jobs because of the detailed nature of the work. At this point I could not be more satisfied with the project. I would recommend them to anyone interested in fine quality workmanship.
